An instructor sent me the files in an email, and THOSE files I was able to open and see the comments. I tried to set WORD program to open - ERROR messages.īEFORE I started changing the programs that open the file, I was able to open the file okay, but I could not get the instructor's comments. BUT, if I use WinZip free trial, IT WORKS GREAT! But, I don't want to have to pay for WinZip.Ĭould it be some settings in what programs are set to open what files? What program should I have set for this? I try to set it as Adobe Reader - but does't work. Open from Adobe Reader I just get the message that the file is damaged or unsupported. DETAILS: Microsoft Word cannot open this file because some parts are missing or invalid." (files are not damaged, missing or invalid) But when I opened it with WORD I get the message: "Sorry we can't open 22001185-028005 because we found a problem with its contents. I tried a trial version, and that did work. It seems the only way to open is if I pay for WinZip to open it. I started from scratch, and tried to open the ZiP/COMPRESSED file from the Penn Foster website. I did that, and then went back to try to open up file again. I didn't know about that, and I was able to change my Google Chrome plugin to Adobe PDF (ENABLED) instead of the Chrome PDF. Karl, thank you once again for that great info. STILL I'm doing something wrong - Adobe Reader cannot open compressed 2-page file.
